10 Years of the Generation Chair

2019 has been a substantial year for our dear friends at Knoll — 100 years of the Bauhaus movement, the launch of their new Chicago space in Fulton Market, the acquisition of ecommerce manufacturer, fully, and 10 years since Knoll’s most flexible, ergonomic task chair — the Generation chair — was introduced to the workplace in 2009.

Designed by Formway Design in 2009, the Generation Chair redefined the conventions of how people “should” sit and instead offered them freedom of choice by supporting their movements. The first chair in the market to promote unrestrained movement, Generation is a true reflection of people-centered design.

With work more collaborative than ever, the ability to move freely around a workspace is absolutely crucial to employee success. Generation’s innovative, elastic design gives people the flexibility and comfort they need to get work done without impeding their movement. Its unparalleled material flexibility and 270-degree of sitting allows for maximum control of the way you work.

In celebration of ten years well sat, Knoll introduced the Anniversary Collection — five bright new finishes that puts a playful spin on Generation. With finishes like Sunset, Grapefruit, Lime, Teal Breeze and Ocean, the future looks sunny for our favorite task chair. See what we did there? 😀
