Happy Holidays from RJE

A Year of Successes and Silver Linings

It’s an understatement to say that 2020 has been a difficult year—but there have been silver linings both at RJE and in the world. From little wonders that gave us a glimmer of optimism to successes that will lead us into a promising future, we want to share some of our highlights from 2020.

Good News from Around the World

Everyone’s favorite cast of The Office reunited to marry a happy, unexpecting couple in John Krasinski’s 7th episode of “Some Good News.” Social-distanced dancing, Emma Stone’s weather report, and a Zac Brown Band ballad to bring you to (joyful) tears—what more could you want?

As people stayed inside, pollution levels dropped and sea life appeared in Venice’s canals for the first time in years. Treat yourself to a splashing surprise!

People all over the world stood outside and clapped for our essential healthcare workers at the height of the pandemic.

We celebrated awards, anniversaries, and a new direction

RJE celebrated 20 years under Denny’s leadership, whose direction was as crucial as ever through this year. Also heads up, we have a 30th birthday right around the corner that we can’t wait to celebrate.

We also commemorated milestones for our offices. RJE Kentucky was named one of the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in Kentucky. Additionally, while there might not have been candles, we celebrated the RJE Columbus office turning one year old.

The design of RJE Columbus Showroom won the “People’s Choice” award from AIA Columbus. We’re honored that other people found our showroom and work space as motivating as we do!

Coming off these celebrations, we recommitted to providing our clients with the best experience through our new slogan, “Spaces that inspire. People who delight.”

Cheers to twenty years, Denny!

We got creative in supporting clients, employees, and partners

Workplace culture and employee happiness are extremely important to us, which is why we wanted to understand how employees felt about going into the office amidst the pandemic. That’s why we participated in DORIS research that allowed us to gauge our employees and their comfortability in coming back to work. To give us insights into the industry at large, we commissioned research that gave us insight on how productivity, creativity, innovation, strategy, and collaboration are faring during the pandemic. When it came to workplace readiness, we unearthed some interesting findings! Equipped with this knowledge, we also provided clients with valuable workplace re-entry information.

New Research: What Lies Ahead for the Future of Work After Covid-19?

An inspiring and comfortable space is paramount to produce your best work, so we wanted to help remote employees upgrade their home offices. To accommodate the newfound work spaces, we gave away three task chairs in a work-from-home (WFH) contest we hosted with non-profit IndyHub. Congratulations again to Indy winner was Masey Carlton, who went back to work after having twins.

Taking care of kids while working was an unprecedented challenge for many families, so we wanted to offer a fun break for kids and adults alike. So we built an activity booklet for our clients and friends with kids at home to relax and tune in to their creative side. Perhaps the best part—we included was our signature chocolate chip cookie recipe.

With the challenges imposed by the pandemic, we mapped all our showrooms virtually so our guests could enjoy our spaces without worry. Additionally, we carried out our annual photo shoot with our core partner Knoll. We knew the shoot must go on, even from a distance.

We had some excitement going on in Cincy, too. RJE Cincinnati completed many projects, including “Serenity Suites Premier Memory Care” with a sleek but homey design to help residents at an assisted living facility age gracefully.

We stayed committed to making a difference in our communities

In 2020 we led our annual United Way employee campaign across the Enterprise and hosted our third annual Reason for the Season campaign benefiting Metro United Way in Louisville. We also participated in downtown beautification efforts to encourage residents to support our downtowns! To top it off, we gave time back to community food bank Gleaners to support their efforts to alleviate hunger during the pandemic.

Bringing Good Tidings

That’s a wrap of all the moments that have brought us joy thus far. We wish you happy holidays and hope that you are all staying safe as we moved forward into the new year.
