People Who Delight – Spotlight on Sales Coordinator Manager Meghan Camp

Our team has many parts that work together to deliver the best customer experience. From our workplace consultants and design teams working on what your space will look like to our operations team coordinating getting it installed in your space, our RJE team is there every step of the process! One team that keeps the project altogether and ensures the right pieces and parts are ordered and delivered are our sales coordinators. Mostly working behind the scenes, our sales coordinators are our middlemen between our team and our vendors (some may call them “professional wranglers”!) who work with our sales and design teams to enter orders, work on scheduling and invoicing, and coordinate with our vendors while simultaneously project manage with our internal teams to ensure they are staying on track.

Today, we are spotlighting the RJE Cincinnati Sales Coordinator Manager Meghan Camp to learn more about her role, how she “hugs her customers,” what she is loving about working with Allsteel and even her favorite emoji. Learn more about Meghan below!

Name: Meghan Camp
Current Role: Sales Coordinator
Time at RJE: 8 years
RJE Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

What led you to RJE?
My degree is actually in communications and public relations, so I originally thought I wanted to do human resources. My first job out of college was in human resources, and I did that for a few years and soon realized it was not what I wanted to do. I got connected to RJE in a bit of a random way. A friend who had interviewed at RJE, which was formerly known as Contract Interiors before RJE purchased them, recommended I apply here and learned about the sales coordinator role through them. It was a very random connection, but I interviewed and loved the people and the rest is history.

Describe RJE in three words and tell us what your favorite thing is about working at RJE?
Three words I would use to describe RJE are innovative, collaborative and ambitious. One of my favorite things about working at RJE is definitely the people. I think it is so important to like the people you work with and have a respect for them, since I consider them an extended family. I have worked other places where there isn’t that team dynamic or coworkers don’t get a long and it gets challenging to motivate yourself in an environment like that. We spend a good amount of time together, so I am glad to like the people I work with!

What does hugging your customer mean to you?
Hugging your customer means not only providing great customer service, but being able to provide customers with good resources, knowledge about the industry and products, and a team that can exceed expectations. I work with a lot of vendors, and there are vendors that are really great to work with and vendors that are more challenging to work with. I put myself in their shoes, and think “what can I provide them to be that vendor that they love to work with?” I want to be that person that our customers are excited to work with and look forward to working with, so I go in having that mentality and believe that is part of hugging our customers.

What does an inspiring space include in your eyes?
I think having a lot of variety creates an inspiring space. Especially now, after coming off of a lot of people working from home and going back into the office, I think incorporating elements of home and using pieces that are comfortable. The “resimercial” (the combination of residential design and commercial design) is huge right now, and I love it. It is really cool to see how various companies implement that for their teams. I would say having those resimercial elements mixed with different spaces, not only individual workspaces but in meeting spaces and different collaborative spaces not only create an inspiring space for teams but also help teams do work efficiently and comfortably.

What can customers expect from working with you?
I think what vendors or customers working with me can expect good customer service, a lot of communication—sometimes I feel like I can be an over communicator—and also problem solving. Sales coordinators are behind the scenes with a lot of balls in the air, so the customer may not see it all happening in front of them or are directly affected by it, but they can expect a lot of behind the scenes work, problem-solving, and collaborating with a lot of different teams to deliver their vision.

Why are you excited about the new Allsteel partnership?
From what I have seen so far working with Allsteel, they have great customer service and partnership with us. Something that excites me is that right from the start, they have looked at us as a valued partner and not just another dealer. I also was really shocked by all the product lines they have to offer! I had heard of them before we partnered with them, but I was really excited to then learn about their portfolio of brands. They offer such a wide range of products and can pretty much do everything – ancillary, architectural products, traditional workstations and office furniture – but I wasn’t aware so it was cool to learn more about them. Also, I think they have similar values as RJE, and from interacting with them, we have felt that and lived that, which is also exciting.

What is your current favorite product from Allsteel and its portfolio of brands?
I like the Corral brand! Everything I have seen from that looks really cool and different. Also, I love Allsteel’s Rock Chair and that has become a quick favorite – it is a rocking chair that is comfy but also has an amazing design.

RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS

Describe yourself in three words.
Caring. Loyal. Detailed-oriented.

You are a new addition to a crayon box. What color would you be and why?
I would be a reddish, pinkish color! I have two sides, I can be a little fiery and feisty which is reflected in the red, then I think the pink reflects my softer, caring, and more empathetic side.

What emoji do you use the most?

Favorite way to spend your free time?
I love spending time with my two daughters and my family in general. They are little still, ages 4 and 1, so we love going to the park and just spending quality time with them. I took my one year old on the swing for the first time this spring and she loved it! It’s those moments that make it my favorite way to spend my time. I also love traveling!

Cats or Dogs?
Although I do love both, if I have to pick I choose dogs. I did have a dog for 13 years!

Favorite place you have ever been?
Hawaii or London, England – I like both! They are both very different but those are the top two favorites.

Favorite downtown Cincinnati spot?
Arnold’s Bar – It is one the oldest bars in Cincinnati, so it has a ton of character, good food, good drinks, and also right around the corner from our RJE Cincinnati office. Also, their chef was just on the Food Network and won the show Chopped!

Favorite movie or tv show at the moment/in general?
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – love that show and the new season was just released.
