People Who Delight: Spotlight on Logistics Manager Cindy Hornak

At RJE, many of our employees have a long-time tenure with the company – Cindy is one such employee. Having been with us over 31 years, if you have worked on a project with our Indianapolis team, there is a good chance you’ve had the opportunity to meet Cindy along the way. Always working to make the customer experience better and easier, Cindy demonstrates what the operations team stands for – teamwork and progress.

What led you to RJE?  

A Ball State University design classmate and friend introduced me, thinking both sides would benefit. I was working for a competitor at the time.

What has been your favorite project so far?

The Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA)

What is your favorite thing about working at RJE?

The opportunity to work with creative, smart, and determined people. We are a good mix who challenge each other.

Customer-centric, caring, and positive.

What does hugging your customer mean to you? 

Listening and going beyond expectations.

What does an inspiring space include in your eyes?

It’s where you arrive and are your best self.

What can customers expect from working with you?

Upbeat, prepared and they can count on me.

Favorite way to spend your free time: 

  • Walking at Eagle Creek Park. 
  • Reading books by Jim Gaffigan, David Sedaris, or anything thought provoking, positive and funny.
  • Laughing is always good.  
  • Any activity with my family.

Cats or Dogs?

Dogs. Charlie is my walking companion — he is great for my step count.

Favorite place you have ever been:

Costa Rica

Favorite movie or tv show at the moment:

Any form of Dateline or some sort of Food Network Challenge.

Any personal mantra or words to live by that you follow?

Don’t take life too seriously, take chances, be goofy, and brush your teeth. (It just sounds like a good thing to do.)
