Name: Krista Jones

RJE Location: Indianapolis, IN

How long have you been with RJE and what do you do at our company?

I have been with RJE for almost 6 years. As senior designer I help clients to create a vision for their space and bring it to life. This usually entails space planning, product, and finish selection.

What led you to RJE?

One of my best friends started working at RJE and shared with me how great it was. I came over to meet the design director and “just chat” about an opportunity but ended up really wanting the job. Everyone was so welcoming, and I could feel the great team dynamic from day one!

What has been your favorite project so far?

There are a couple of projects that stand out in my mind as my favorite. The first is Gregory & Appel. That project was great from start to finish. Their team was awesome to work with. Andrew, our client, let us have creative freedom in the products that were used. They embraced color and pattern. It is not every day that you get to use bright colors like pink, orange, and purple in an office setting. The final installation turned out beautiful and it is such a fun space.

The second client/project that stands out to me is Girl Scouts. We recently helped refresh their Camp Dellwood building and their Exploration Lab. Both projects were fun to design. We spent time thinking through how the troops and staff would use the space in many different applications. Both spaces turned out bright, inviting, and playful. The next install we have planned for them is a custom moss logo of their trefoil. We can’t wait to see it installed!

What is your favorite thing about working at RJE?

Definitely the people. We have such a great team! I am greeted every day by people who really care about me and each other. Everyone works really hard and always offers to help each other. I have even had coworkers jump in and offer to help watch my daughter or help with my car. It is great to be surrounded by people who have your back.

Describe RJE in three words

Client-focused, collaborative, dedicated.

What does hugging your customer mean to you?

It means having great communication and partnership. Even if an issue arises, we communicate through it and present solutions. I want my clients to feel like they can trust me and know that I am invested in their project’s success.

What does an inspiring space include in your eyes?

Lots of natural light, color, and biophilia.

What can customers expect from working with you?

Collaboration! I love working with clients to really get creative and design their space. I will always jump in and offer my opinion on a finish, or a layout change to help them feel confident in their decisions. The best projects are the ones where we work closely together and really dive into the details.

What is your current favorite product from Allsteel and its portfolio of brands?

This is a tough one! I think my current favorite is the Logger Sofa from Corral. It has a unique curve to it and makes a statement in a space. I would love to use it in a project wrapped around a column (or a tree like at the Allsteel showroom in Chicago!)

Describe yourself in three words.

Creative, hard-working, and loyal.

If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

I am not a big writer so it would probably be something different like a cookbook! I love to cook and throw things together in the kitchen without a recipe.

What emoji do you use the most? 😂

Favorite way to spend your free time

Hiking with my family. My husband, daughter, and I love Turkey Run and Shades State Parks.

Salty or sweet?

Salty for sure!

Favorite place you have ever been

Tulum, Mexico.

Favorite downtown Indy spot

Livery! I love their empanadas and they have the best margarita.

Do you think you would make a good spy?

I would be a TERRIBLE spy. I am not good at lying or keeping secrets – it’s always written on my face.

Any personal mantra or words to live by that you follow?

I am a big believer in being kind to everyone and putting good out into the world. You never know what someone is going through.
